THE FIVE SPOONS
A big, warm “hello!” to every one of you out there reading this! We are The Five Spoons, a team of six Year 2 Mass Communication students from Republic Polytechnic's Centre for Enterprise & Communication (CEC).
Whether it’s the famous chicken rice at the hawker center or a massive buffet hidden away in a small restaurant downtown, rely on us to share our LOVE for FOOD through food-hunting and thinking up with our very own food reviews on this blog!
Walter Ng
Hi, I'm Walter and I am the overall-in-charge of The Five Spoons.
I am also known as the Soup Spoon, because I love eating food- especially in large portions!
I was born to parents that are major foodies, thus I have cultivated the love of food-hunting since young. To me, if a dish is worth my time, I wouldn’t mind queuing 30 minutes for a plate of steaming Hainanese chicken rice.
My favourite cusine is Chinese, Malay and Indian cusine. All three races have their specialties, so it would always give me a variety of food to choose from!
Why do I have such a passion for food? Well, because everybody needs to eat! I believe that instead of merely eating, why not choose to eat tasty food? Because somehow or rather, eating tasty food would light up my day, every day.
“To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.” ― François de La Rochefoucauld
Fion Chua
Hello, this is Fion and I'm the editor of the The Five Spoons!
I am known as the Tablespoon, one of the types of spoons that can be used with almost any dish.
As the editor of the team, I am in charge of proof-reading and ensuring that everyone’s writing is consistent before it is presentable, meaning that I am as important as a tablespoon in the pantry (just joking).
Many people know that I am a foodie who eats almost everything. Honestly, it is very difficult for me to pick a favourite dish or type of cuisine, so I share what I know and my experiences with everyone here.

Darren Lee
Hi guys, my name is Darren and I contribute media content for The Five Spoons.
The spoon that best fits my personality would be the Dessert Spoon. Well, they always say the best is served the last... haha. Jokes aside, you can count on me to bring you all the videos edited to perfection here!
Cakes, puddings, custards, pies and pastries- I love them all! I can’t even count how many times I have wished that I could have dessert for three meals a day!
'Food is the most primitive form of comfort'- this sentence simply explains why I love food. Feeling down? Just grab a bite and you’ll get an energy boost like none other!

I am a die-hard fan of spicy food, buffets and Japanese cuisine.
Due to my grandma’s fantastic cooking skills of Cantonese & local dishes, my love of food (and weight) grew as I grow up.
